State of the World…

Courageous queers made this a great week for LGBTI+ rights!

This week the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights found that Jamaica violated gay and lesbian rights, activists sued Honduras over its new marriage equality constitutional super-ban, and a gay couple in Korea sued the National Health Insurance Agency for equal benefits.

In addition, a vote on the Equality Act is expected in the United States, the United Nations Committee on the Rights of the Child found that Finland failed to consider the best interests of the child of a lesbian couple when rejecting his asylum request, and LGBTQ activists remained at the frontlines in Myanmar’s pro-democracy protests.

While backlash may be on the horizon, we’re mindful to celebrate this moment. Stay strong friends, and continue being your fabulous queer selves.
