As we’re heading into Pride month, we saw a lot of bad developments.
In uplighting news, Namibia issued travel documents to a gay couple's children and Havana donned rainbow flags in a key year for LGBT+ rights in Cuba.
Unfortunately, Ghana police arrested 21 LGBTQ activists for unlawful assembly, 10,000 people protested same-sex civil unions in Lithuania, an LGBT hate crime bill polarized Italy, Britain's Equality and Human Rights Commission quit Stonewall over trans matters, Singapore warned the United States Embassy over a webinar with an LGBT group, and the Equality Act in the United States is all but dead.
Seeing how this hate manifests in backlash and legal struggles for even the most basic non-discrimination protections confirms the continued battle #LGBTI+ people face and the need to keep moving.
