The Together Statement

The Together Statement is a democratically-formed collective statement created by LGBTQI+ youth activists and organisations around the world. This first statement was formed at The Together Conference in December 2021, focusing on the Central Asia and Europe region. It details the greatest problems, solutions, and recommendations facing LGBTQI+ youth today in the five key areas of education, employment, health, housing, and political participation.

The purpose of the Together Statement is to provide key stakeholders with a call to action directly from the voices of LGBTQI+ youth and organisations. This Statement shows that LGBTQI+ youth are ready and resilient in the face of numerous barriers as they lead a collective path forward for the movement.

The Together Conference

Youth can and do change the world! We have always been at the forefront of transformative, sustainable, and global change. That is why we hosted The Together Conference!

This strategic conference invited young LGBTIQ+ activists and youth-led, youth-focused organisations to come together in an action-oriented space that enabled critical reflection, facilitated open dialogue for sharing struggles, and planned a collective path forward for our movements. We identified the most prevalent problems, offered solutions, and developed recommendations that addressed key issues faced by LGBTQI+ youth.

This online and highly-interactive space reflected the democratic youth engagement and decision-making practices we aim to foster in our societies. The Together Conference recentered the ongoing work of our community, drove forward impact on a global scale, and formed futures where all LGBTQI+ youth are free and equal!
