State of the World…
This was another exciting week in LGBTI+ activism, especially as we get ready to party at WorldPride!
Great news as a court in Ghana dropped a case against 21 LGBT+ activists, openly LGBTQ athletes at the Tokyo Olympics have won 32 medals and Canadian soccer star Quinn became the first openly trans Olympic medalist. Additionally, the LGBTQ+ Advocacy Clinic at Harvard Law School is working with students to offer legal protections for people in polyamorous relationships and there was an uncovering of Scandinavia's LGBT Viking history at Stockholm Pride.
Unfortunately this great news was also met with bad news as Taiwan won't attend Hong Kong's Gay Games fearing the security law, Hungary banned display or portrayal of LGBT products within 200 meters of schools and churches, dozens protested against a planned LGBT event in Kazakhstan, and Snickers pulled an advert in Spain.
These insensitivities show how far we’ve come but also how far we need to go. We hope you stay happy, healthy, flourishing in the week ahead!
