Business Unit

The Business Unit creates welcoming workplaces by providing impactful, tailored products and services for private sector companies, NGOs, and other types of organizations.

The Problem

Much of our lives are spent at work. For many LGBTI+ people, their work experience is defined by conformity, shame, worry, bullying, bias, and one where they are forced to hide their identity for safety and acceptance. This results in decreased productivity, mental health, and sense of belonging with increased isolation, barriers to accessing jobs, mental and physical health issues, and higher turnover.

The Solution

The Global Center launched the Business Unit to provide workplaces with the knowledge and skills needed to redefine organizational cultures as ones built on humanity, empathy, and vulnerability. By doing this, our goal is for workplaces to provide transformative social responsibility in creating diversity, equity, and inclusion for LGBTI+ people.

How can the Global Center help you?

We provide the knowledge and skills needed to openly and interactively discuss LGBTI+ topics. Through tested, expertly designed, and easily implementable materials, we aim to create more free and equal workplaces through practical approaches. We offer a global community of diverse LGBTI+ changemakers with cross-sectoral experience to provide tools and materials for implementation, customized to each organizational environment.

Inclusion at Work Series

The Inclusion at Work series provides an overview of common LGBTI+ concepts and provides suggestions for creating a workplace that treats LGBTI+ employees with dignity, respect, and equity.

Trainings

We faciliated a training with Booking.com in November 2020 with people from 5 countries (Thailand, Vietnam, Laos, India, and China) in attendance. The objectives of this workshop were to increase awareness of SOGIESC topics, provide localized knowledge of SOGIESC topics across East and Southeast Asia, and strategize how to start being an LGBTI+ ally.

Our post-training survey shows that participants’ level of awareness on SOGIESC topics improved by participating in this session. As one participant said the workshop provided:

“An open environment for us to understand more and share about the LGBT community.”

While others stated they would recommend the Global Center to others because it is a “reliable source and community for us to expand our network.”
