State of the World…

This week saw political boldness and hard fought legal battles for LGBTI+ people around the world!

In Australia, LGBTQ advocates blasted the religious discrimination bill, Norway Post's "When Harry Met Santa" Christmas mini-film went viral as they celebrated 50 years since gay sex was legalized, LGBT Qataris calls foul ahead of World Cup, the frontrunner in Honduras' presidential election supports marriage equality, and Germany has an incredible pledge for sweeping reforms of LGBT+ rights.

Additionally, the Botswana appeals court unanimously upheld the ruling that decriminalized gay sex, the Dutch government apologized for its discredited transgender law, there was a final hearing in six combined Indian marriage equality cases, United States-backed therapists told people in Costa Rica that LGBTQ feelings are ‘wrong’ and ‘nobody is born homosexual’, a Taiwanese-Singaporean couple won a cross-national same-sex marriage lawsuit, and LGBT+ Afghans feared being forgotten 100 days since Taliban takeover.

With all of this progress, we must not forget the rights and dignity of all community members - and must continue our advocacy to ensure all live in a safe and affirming world.
